SOME RECENT CONTRIBUTIONS

Issue 162 contained articles about the Church / State relationship in different countries and situations.

Issue 161 began with a speech by Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers on 'Equality before the Law' and articles on 'The Changing Criminal Law of Religion' and 'Catholic Adoption Agencies and Gay Adopters'.

Issue 160 contained an article about Animal-Human hybrids and a discussion on 'A court of law, not of morals?'

Issue 159 contained articles on 'Caring' as a neglected legal topic, a reflection on the question of 'torture' and two articles concerning the tension between the demands of the State and the beliefs of churches (the Sexual Orientation Regulations & the employment status of ministers of religion).

Issue 158 included two articles about slavery: 'Slavery, Human Dignity and Human Rights' and 'The Catholic Church and Slavery.'

Issue 157 included articles on Crime and its Causes, Marriage in Eastern and Western Canon Law and the Legal Regulation of Religious Giving.

Issue 156 was a special issue on capital punishment. It included articles by a judge of the US Supreme Court, Antonin Scalia, entitled 'God's Justice and Ours' plus other articles exploring Christian thought on this issue.

Issue 155 included the 9th Richard O'Sullivan Memorial Lecture on Federalism in the Proposed EU and in the US Constitutions by Richard Regan, and an article entitled 'Justice:Retribution or Reconciliation?' by Matthijs de Blois.

Issue 154 included articles on Pope John Paul II by Robert Ombres O.P., Contemporary Human Rights and Christianity by Robert McCorquodale, and Royal Marriages & Human Rights by Christopher Dwyer.

Issue 153 included articles on National Churches & the separation of powers, Halal Slaughter & the status of Ministers of Religion in Spain.

Issue 152 included articles by Gisela Stuart MP on the European Constitution and God, together with a number of essays on the newly emerging discipline of Sociology, Law & Religion with relation to the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Europe.

Issue 151 included an article on the Ius of War by Michael Tate, a former Australian Minister of Justice, now a Roman Catholic priest, Subsidiarity and Sphere Sovereignty by David McIlroy, the European Court of Human Rights and the Bessarabian Orthodox Church by John Warwick Montgomery and the present position on Chancel Repairs in the Church of England by Augur Pearce

Issue 150 included articles on the law of religious hatred, the relevance of Old Testament Law and the law and theology of assisted suicide, and case notes on judicial interference with government decisions in terrorist cases and censorship of party political broadcasts.

Issue 149 was a special one on the notion of the National Church in the United Kingdom based on papers delivered at a conference organized by the Centre for Law and Religion, the Law School, Cardiff University. Main Articles included
